I often think of the times that my apostle has expressed to me that she can’t exactly pinpoint the times she’s shifted regarding some of the biggest decisions of her life. She doesn’t remember when, she just knows that a shift did happen.
I am coming to understand what she meant all those times we conversed about it. The truth is that the mental shift and psychological switch that is necessary to living in the Spirit is very rarely, almost never talked about. We very candidly and with conviction quote Romans 12:1+2, (“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” KJV); but nobody ever tells you that there is a road map. The farthest you may get is that you have to decide, but there isn’t much credence given to what that decision making process looks like, or the fact that it is a process all on its own.
Fortunately, there are those of us the Lord has chosen to go before the generations after us so that we can impart these fundamental nuggets into those who seek to live the life of God (“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 KJV). Just as my leader has been chosen to reach back and impart to me along with my counterparts, I have been chosen to impart to you and pray that you choose to listen.
The road is rough and Satan is shrewd and cunning. He comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” John 10:10 KJV). He doesn’t just do this in what we believe to be the conventional sense, he comes to kill your dreams, steal your hope, destroy your destiny; and he begins by attempting to rob you of your choice. The choice to live and be holy, a requirement of the Sovereign God (“For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy…” Leviticus 11:44 KJV). He begins with lies, the kind that speak to the dark and lonely places in your soul. The places that need healing, wholeness, salvation, conversion, and transformation. He comes to tell you that you will never make it, you will never succeed, or that living the life of Jesus Christ, as He requires, is way too much.
I am a witness to tell you that all of those messages are lies, and while you will have to fight through every waking moment to come to the ultimate decision to be rooted and grounded in Christ for the rest of your life, you can do this! With God all things are possible (“And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10:27 KJV), and you can decide to sow your life back to the father. It will take time, there will be mistakes, but you can get on and stay on the road that is straight and narrow.
Now what my leader has said to me is crystal clear because I am not exactly sure when this decision to be broken and live for Him for real actually happened, but I am very glad that it did.
