“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5 KJV)
I had a conversation with a sister of mine a while ago. We were exploring the origin of why she had a general mistrust of people. Now, I’m the type of person who doesn’t mind sharing where I am or what my experiences have been for what I believe is God’s greater good. At the same time, I am also super private, which is something this sister and I have in common. As we continued our conversation, I found out that there were more things that we had in common. Her lack of inhibition to share (when normally that is not the case) pushed me to my own points of vulnerability and caused me to ask myself a few questions. This conversation also made me realize that while I am helping her come to grips with working through some issues that repeatedly keep her from getting to the where she wants to be, I too have things hidden deep within myself that I have never taken the time to process properly. It stopped me, made me think, made me cry, then....it made me reach out.
To many of us, routine living is the order of the day. Wake up, shower, get dress, drop off the kids, go to work, grind, pick up kids, take them to their activities or go straight home, dinner, shower, clean up, go to bed and repeat. It’s a very vicious cyclical way of living because this routine doesn’t allow you the time to process all of the elements in life that the Lord has given you to teach you, prune you, establish you, or even sharpen you.
I encourage you to take life moment by moment, to slow down and feel the breeze of God and wind of change. In the times that you don’t want to deal, don’t understand, don’t want to confront, it is best to lean into Him and to be led. He will give you the grace to be vulnerable to Him in the places that you may not have trusted Him totally. Of this, I am a firsthand recipient, and because He is no respecter of person, I know He will do it for you. Your heart may feel that it will be frightening, when it really what awaits you is peace, joy, and ultimately understanding and the settling of God to combat anything life has ever thrown at you.
